Hi again,

Another conundrum I've been wondering about. I switched from Microsoft Security Essentials to AVG because my dad, a network security admin, said that MSE has gone way downhill in its detection rates. AVG works great ... until I need to update. My best friend is struggling with this, too. Are there any antivirus programs out there that are compatible with screenreading software and also have good scores? Again, Cait and I appreciate your help!

Thanks,
Mel

Check out the recent topic on this board, called Web Root and Jaws? for some suggestions about antivirus software that works well.

I would suggest viper. It works with a screen reader and has good detection. There are two versions, viper antivirus, which has antifishing, antivirus, and antispyware. Then there is also viper internet security, which has all these features, plus build-in firewall, bad websiter blocker. social watch, montors your facebook for links on your newsfeed that are harmful, and an auto patch feature that can alert you to when applications on your computer are out of date. You have to paly for this software package, but I think its well worth the $35 per year for the antivirus, and I think the viper internet security is $49.00. This is a per year bassis. There are other subscription options besides one year. if you want to get a free thirty day trial, just go google and look up gfi software.
